I need a hobby, and so do you.

We used to paint, knit, sew, play games and sports, bake, click, collect, draw, write and just create something.. just for fun. What happened now?

As life's demands pull us in countless directions, self-care often falls by the wayside. Yet, it is in nurturing ourselves that we discover the strength to nurture others. Hobbies serve as the gentle breaths that mend our fragmented souls, bringing balance and harmony to our lives. In the words of Albert Einstein, who found solace in playing the violin, "The greatest scientists are artists as well." Our hobbies whisper to us in moments of solitude, reminding us of our own worth, fostering self-expression, and fostering the delicate art of self-love.

A well-tended garden bears the fruits of labor, just as a dedicated hobby nurtures productivity and accomplishment. Consider the genius of Benjamin Franklin, who, amidst shaping the course of history, found solace in playing the glass harmonica and composing music. Such diversions, far from being distractions, become the fertile soil that enables us to approach our daily tasks with renewed vigor. Hobbies invigorate our minds, sharpen our focus, and kindle the fire within, guiding us towards greatness in our chosen pursuits.

The canvas beckons the painter, the pen calls out to the writer, and the camera whispers to the photographer. Each creative endeavor is an opportunity to unearth the boundless depths of our imagination. Renowned artists like Leonardo da Vinci, who painted masterpieces while indulging in scientific pursuits, or Maya Angelou, whose poetic words etched themselves into the hearts of millions, remind us that hobbies nourish not only the soul but also our creative spirit. Through hobbies, we find the colors to paint our dreams and the melodies to breathe life into our aspirations.

Let’s take sometime and try to cultivate or rekindle a hobby. I know you have the time, and so do I. If we replace just half an hour of our screen time with an actual, tangible hobby or creative pursuit, it will make a world of difference. I am trying to write more. I love writing and I don’t do it often enough. I love how my thoughts just flow when I journal or write. So, for my part I am going to blog more here, try different styles of writing, journal more for myself, and maybe even try my hand at painting or sewing. What about you? Do you have a hobby you’d like to pursue? Something outside of your work? Something that lets you be creative and let’s you unwind?  Think about it and get started. If DaVinci could take sometime off and have a hobby, so can we!
